Judges Scoresheet


____ (0-20) basic knowledge- includes clean isolations, spins, veilwork, body line, etc.
____ (0-20) level of difficulty- includes layering, height changes, mood changes, combinations, subtlety,
variety, etc.
____ (0-20) transition of moves & moods. If a prop is added or discarded, the transition should be
seamless and part of the act. Changes should not be abrupt unless it is part of the character,
mood, or in the music.
____ (0-20) hip articulation
____ (0-20) entrance & exit. Maintains character while visible to the audience
____(-10-+10) prop- props are not required. If used, they can add to or subtract from your score. If
it does not add to the performance, points will be taken away. What goes on stage with you
should come off with you. Up to 2 bonus points possible for each prop. Max bonus= 10 pts. A
veil that is quickly discarded after entrance is NOT a prop.

Costuming & Fusion Element

____(0-10) 2+ costuming elements are fused purposefully and artistically.
____ (0-10) 2+ music elements are fused purposefully and artistically

____ (0-20) stage presence, personality, energy (can be Ba-Boom!, subtle, playful, dynamic, sweet,
sultry, etc.)
____ (0-20) makes good use of space; can utilize either a little or a lot, but maximizes choice
____ (0-20) audience awareness (dances for the audience not in a vacuum)
____ (0-20) creativity, originality
____ (0-20) facial expression & body language


____(0-20) movement reflects and compliments the music
____(0-20) costuming reflects and compliments the music
____(0-20) mood reflects and compliments the music
____(0-20) recording quality (no pops, scratches, volume changes, seamless transition between pieces)

Note: An “average” score is 10-12. Marks can go up or down from there. This should leave room for the stellar performer and creates consistency of meaning from judge to judge.
